Being an anchor for Milwaukee’s top morning broadcast, FOX6 WakeUp, makes Deffenbaugh very happy. This amazing presentation seems to be the most entertaining and educational way to begin the morning.
Deffenbaugh took a job at the anchor desk two years after joining FOX6 as the Roving Reporter for WakeUp. In addition, while the majority of viewers were still having breakfast, he covered the Packers and Brewers during the playoffs, flew with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, performed on stage with Milwaukee’s amazing arts organizations, made a fool of himself on live TV, and consumed a variety of foods—including bugs.
Sharing powerful, fascinating stories with the audience is what Carl enjoys most. The gentleman goes on to say that he has won multiple Emmy Awards for his feature reporting, one of which was for a series that looked at the day-to-day activities of Wisconsin sailors on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Deffenbaugh embarked on a six-year career as a sports reporter and anchor. He first immersed himself in the ACC with the fantastic crew at WDBJ7 in Roanoke, Virginia, after leaving Blue Ridge Cable-11 (which is located in the midst of Pennsylvania’s Amish country), and he also indulged in a healthy dose of NASCAR. Lastly, Deffenbaugh worked as the weekend sports anchor at WSBT for three years, all while under the Golden Dome, covering all things Notre Dame.
And while Carl did a good job at those several places, the folks at FOX6 were most interested in him the one time he dressed up as the Cat in the Hat and read to children (really, it was a second time; the first was when he played the lead in Seussical the Musical back in high school).
