John Donvan Biography

John Donvan is an Emmy-Award-winning-American journalist, broadcaster, anchor, and debate moderator whose bestselling book, In a Different Key: The Story of Autism, was a Pulitzer Prize Finalist. Donvan also serves as the host of the Intelligence Squared US, a debate series dedicated to raising the level of public discourse in America which may be heard on NPR, and on For TV. Additionally, he is an avid storyteller, having premiered his first one-man show “Lose the Kid” in Washington, D.C. in September 2013, at the respect of the auspices of SpeakeasyDC.

Donvan joined IQ² as a host and moderator in 2008 and also serves as a contributor/ writing consultant which is mainly based in Washington, D.C. since 1989 at ABC News. Moreover, he served as a foreign correspondent at CNN where he covered politics and culture across Europe and the Middle East from 1986 to 1989. He began his career as a radio intern at WGCH Radio in March 1975 and also served as an anchor at WMTW-TV from 1978 to 1979. Also, John serves as a correspondent for ABC News’ Nightline and was a substitute anchor for former anchor Ted Koppel. Lastly, he is a recipient of many awards including four Emmy Awards, several Overseas Press Club Awards, two Cine Golden Eagles, and has been honored by the National Association of Black Journalists among many more.
