John Yang is an American journalist, commentator, correspondent, and reporter currently serve as a special correspondent for the PBS NewsHour since joining in February 2016. He covered the first year of the Trump administration and is reporting on major national issues from Washington, DC, and across the country. Before joining PBS, he was a Chicago-based correspondent for NBC News where he joined in January 2007, reporting for NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, Today, and MSNBC. Additionally, he has also served for ABC News as a correspondent where he joined in 1999 mainly based in Washington, D.C. At ABC News, he became well known for covering the George presidential campaign during Republican Party primaries and also he covered the Al Gore campaign.
